Review: Vintage Fair in Fargo Village

TheEnd took a visit to the Vintage Fair held in Fargo Village. It took place inside the market hall, on the weekend in Coventry.

Love a good deal? Then this is the place to be, that’s right it’s a bag of clothes for a tenner! The Vintage Fair was held on the 24th and 25th of March and there was plenty of bargains to go all round. It was held on the weekend but was competing with another vintage fair in Leamington Spa.

When entering the building the first thing to come to mind was the large space, but also the smaller shops within the building. From first appearance of the fair on the outside, it looked like it was held in a warehouse. Nonetheless the inside was more cozy and inviting than expected. The organisers of the event decorated the place by using colourful paper lanterns and photos that were displayed along the ceilings. It made the appearance of the hall more colourful and enticing. In a way the place fitted in with the aesthetics of the vintage fair, it appeared quite timeworn and old-fashioned.  One of the benefits of it being held at the Market Hall was the space, there was a lot of legroom and you didn’t feel restricted in movement when searching for a bargain.

In regards to the clothing, there were a number of rails all sectioned into groups. So searching for a faux fur coat or a pair of ripped jeans was easy to find, because of this grouping. The fair had a large quantity of clothing, which wasn’t expected. There was even one section of the fair dedicated to different hats made out of tweed. If you’re a Peaky Blinders fan then your can grab yourself a newsboy cap for under a fiver. Also present was a treasure chest of beige and white-buttoned shirts, like a pirate at sea it felt like finding lost treasure. But be disheartened if you’re searching for a bag or a pair of cute earrings, as the only accessories they had were hats.

Although the event was desirable it was also disappointing as it was more promising in the advertisement online. It advertised on the website and the Facebook page, that the clothing being sold would be vintage and high street clothing. However what was promised was scarce, it felt like stepping into a grander charity shop.

Check out the Fargo village website to find out when the next vintage fair is on. Read Megan Rhodes article “Review: The Leamington Spa vintage Kilo Sale” to see if it’s better.
