Let Yourself Go in a Club Shed

If you’re a fan of quirky events and like experiencing something slightly different or you’re just trapped in a routine of everyday life, Club Shed will definitely cheer you up and let you forget about your sorrows.

Club Shed is a party experience in a form of silent disco, which allows you to not only dance but also forget about problems surrounding you. However, it’s not just a regular silent disco. Club Shed gives you an opportunity to be involved and to interact in a scripted party, where through the earphones you not only hear music, but also directions on what to do.

Punny-formulated instructions will definitely make you crack up just from the start, even through the safety check, which you won’t even realise is a safety check. Club Shed has 6 different scenarios in 3 different party modes. One being single ladies party vs. hen party, in which both of the groups party separately and then meet and interact with each other.  Each group receives slightly different instructions, all using an absurd but relatable sense of humour, which when you realise, makes you feel that tiny bit more special. Even though, you not necessarily know people in your group, the atmosphere of the event gives a sense of community. Also, every joke is really well planted, so get ready to laugh a lot.

Even if you’re not a fan of audience participation or not really feel comfortable busting some moves, in that around 15-20min act, you will surely have fun and won’t have time to think about your insecurities or audience participation fear. It is a great way to just let yourself go.

The experience was created by Wet Picnic theatre company, which self explains itself as “creating theatre from little light bulb moments we find between the floorboards.” If that doesn’t sound quirky enough I don’t know what does. All members of Wet Picnic were 100% in role since the very beginning. Especially, emotionless bouncers dressed up in suits and dark sunglasses letting in through burgundy stretch barriers straight onto the red carpet. The staff took care to let you feel like you’re about to enter something special, and sure you are.

Wet Picnic just launched Club Shed and is in the process of innovating the experience with more party scenarios to come. They will be traveling with the project around different festivals in the UK including Creative Barking and Dagenham Festival.
