KIKO MILANO GREEN ME LIPS AND CHEEKS REVIEW

Italian Cosmetics brand, KIKO Milano, have just released their newest limited edition collection, Green Me and we couldn't wait to check it out.

Hannah Benjamin

The collection, which claims to be vegan with up to 98% natural ingredients, uses sustainably sourced ingredients and advertises that when a plant is used as ingredients, the company will plant another seed to replace it, which isn't something that we can complain about.

Although the collection is made up of a combination of skincare and make up, the lip products are arguably the most eye-catching, (even though that cleansing face soap smells so heavenly). The GreenMe Lips and Cheeks pencil comes in 5 different shades, claims to have a matte finish and contains Shea Butter. I was interested to find out how a product containing Shea Butter could have a matte finish (spoiler: it’s not that matte) and so I picked up shade 05 Brown Forest.

The first, and one of the most important, factors that I noticed was the pigmentation of the lipstick. It was SO strong. You definitely wouldn’t need more than two coats of this formula to get a full coverage. It was also extremely moisturizing, which I can only assume is that Shea Butter coming into action.

The finish however, as I previously mentioned, is definitely not matte. When it’s first applied it looks almost glossy but once it sets, it looks and feels much more like a velvet lipstick. I find velvet a much more comfortable finish than matte so this wasn’t a problem for me. If however you are someone that lives for the matte effect, I would definitely set this product with some loose translucent powder.

The main disadvantage of this lipstick is the packaging. The chunky pencil design means that the lid gets messy pretty quickly and you have to sharpen it after a few uses. To be fair to KIKO though, the £8.90 price does include a large sharpener to help solve this problem.

Overall, I would say this product is worth the investment. The formula is comfortable to wear, strongly pigments and very long lasting. The She Butter keeps your lips moisturized meaning there is no need to carefully dab your lip balm on top. If you can get over the unnecessary pencil packaging, I would grab one of these limited edition lipsticks while you can.
