“I was Pretty Much Nearly Dead; My Body was Above me Looking Down”

Is there life after death? Is an out-of-body experience real or just your imagination? As a teenager, Daniel Perriman says that a terrifying car crash left him in a coma for 21 days, looking down at the paramedics who were treating him. But do you believe him?

Imagine sitting on the back seat of a car and suddenly the next thing you know you’re being thrown through the backseat window, floating above your body. That's exactly what happened to 50-year-old teacher Daniel Perriman when he was 19 and involved in a deadly car accident where he broke 3 ribs, punctured a lung and suffered serious head injuries.

"The car was going so fast and then the tire burst," says Perriman, who spent 8 months in the hospital."The car toppled over and in those days it didn’t have any seatbelts cause it was an old car…I was pretty much nearly dead."

But it’s what happened after the accident that made him wonder about the existence of heaven. "I remember this white light or heat behind me, but I didn’t want to look at it," he says. "I couldn’t look at it."

So was he being called to heaven? "I can remember looking down at myself lying on the floor…my body was above me," he recalls. "When the ambulance guys lifted me and put me on the stretcher" he says his spirit shouted out "Jesus Christ save me". The story becomes bizarre when his mother told him she heard him say those exact words, even though he was unconscious. How can it be possible for a guy to be unconscious but still make contact with his mum.

Still not convinced, the story gets even more stranger when he describes the conversation 21 days later. "when I came out of a coma I was talking to my mum and explained the story, I told her I remember the ambulance guys picking me up" Whats strange is that he described the paramedics treating him, he says "one was a red head guy with a ginger beard and the other one was a tall blonde bloke."

The mother even confirmed the description of the men, "she goes yeah those are the guys." She knew what they looked like because she travelled in the same ambulance as him. What is spooky about this story is that he was unconscious, he was in a coma for 21 days. Yet he knew what the paramedics looked like.

He later goes on to say that if it wasn't for this out-of-body experience he wouldn't be the person he is today. "It changed my life around, it made me enjoy studying I wanted to make something of my life, whereas before that I didn’t care really…The out of body experience gave me a direction."

Are you convinced of life after death?
