When
Alex Caviel from Chelmsford, Essex woke up from his dream about going on a trip
by plane, he realised, he actually was on the plane, going to Barcelona. His tipsy night out ended up as a lonely adventure to the Catalan capital.

Imagine having a dream so real, that it
actually turns out to be true. “I fell asleep on the plane and woke up half way
through the journey thinking I was dreaming about being on a plane. Then when I
properly woke up I realised what I had actually done,” says Caviel. The young
entrepreneur doesn’t have any recollection of buying the ticket or actually
being on the airport.
It all started with him and his friend,
James having a night out in a local pub in Chelmsford. After downing a few
drinks and losing James in the early morning hours, Alex headed to get some
food, and that’s when an adventurous idea must have launched. He has seen a bus
going to London Stansted Airport and just hopped on. He has no recollection of
the trip itself and the next thing he clearly remembers is waking up on the plane
already in Barcelona. The first thing he’s done when he woke up was sharing his
crazy adventure with all his mates “I jumped on the group chat I have with my
friends and I just had to tell them what happened.” He also kept them updated
through the whole trip. Then, he FaceTimed his parents, who didn’t quite
believe his adventure up until they seen it to make sure they are no worried.
And surprisingly they weren’t.
How many of us woke up after a night out
and regretted what we’ve done? Imagine realising that you’re in a foreign
country, without any luggage, completely on your own. Caviel though, has put on
a brave face. He says: “I was surprised but not particularly worried as I’ve
been to enough places before.” Just after landing, in the morning he’s made
friends with a group of people who helped him get to the centre of Barcelona. While
already being in the city, he decided to use Catalan sun and stay for a
4-day-long holiday. “I decided to take a time out while I was already there.” He
has sightseen the city and partied in best Barcelona clubs, all on his own,
however after spending a bit too much money, he decided is the time to go home.
Fortunately every cloud has a silver
lining, a spontaneous drunk and pricy act turned into a vacation and a get away
he actually needed. Overall, Caviel has a great memory and definitely has a
good story to tell his grandchildren one day. It will be difficult for him to
find equally crazy thing to put on his bucket list. But if you’re going out
this weekend maybe that’s not the best idea to follow his footsteps, so keep
your wallet and passport on the watch.
