Last year,
Glenda Andrews was suffering from severe depression and anxiety that caused her
to gain a tremendous amount of weight. She was struggling with everyday life,
unable to care for her six kids and driving a mobility scooter.
Glenda was
watching Celebrity Big Brother when saw Angie Best having a go at Coleen Nolan
about her weight and that she was the only one who could change it. “It was a
big nasty but I felt like everything she was saying was right and it hit home”,
she told The End.
The next day
Glenda began eating healthy – two meal replacement shakes and two snacks, which
included carrot sticks and hummus, rice cakes and three litres of water along
with a protein filled dinner.
Glenda was
also diagnosed polycystic ovaries where she was in a lot of physical plain but
explained, “I put cans of beans at both ends of my hallway and would run back
and forth for about 10 minutes three times a day. Once I started to lose a bit
of weight my body wasn’t hurting that much. I lost my first stone and felt
good”
She started
the gym a month later wearing cheap Primark trainers being very embarrassed by
all the fit men and women working out around her. She started boxing and only
took classes, where she said “at the end of the class the teacher would make us
do a bleep test and I would always finish last, but I tried to always remember
I’m there for myself not for anyone else.”
Once she
began to loose a few pounds, Glenda’s routine consisted of taking the kids to
school, which she wasn’t able to do before, a morning gym class, home in time
to make the kids dinner and then back to the gym. She didn’t get to see them as
much but they were happy to see her doing better.
Fast forward to
now, Glenda is now partnered with Juice Plus selling her own meal replacement
shakes as well as hosting events to inspire people like herself. She’s also in
the process of becoming a professional personal trainer and said that most
happy about no longer being in pain and being able to go out a lot more.
Her last words
of advice to The End were, “don’t say
I can’t because we are able to do anything we put our minds to. I can’t doesn’t
exists, stay positive and consistent.”
